Dental Board Tutor (dentalboardtutor.com), operated by TIE LAB LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, helps dental students and professionals prepare for board exams. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who helps us process it and the choices you have. Questions about it go to help@dentalboardtutor.com.
What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address and password. We store the password only in hashed form, never in plain text.
- Study activity: the answers you give, your scores, progress and study streaks.
- Purchase records: what you bought, when and for how much. Payments are processed by Stripe: your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Support emails: the messages you send us and our replies.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, recorded in our server logs.
- Campaign attribution: how you found us: campaign (UTM) parameters, the page you first landed on, the external site that referred you and when, plus ad click IDs (Google's gclid, Meta's fbclid) when analytics is allowed (see the next section). We keep this in a cookie in your browser, store it with your account when you sign up, and add the campaign source, medium and name and any click IDs to the Stripe checkout record for a Florida course purchase.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see the next section.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that the site needs to work, such as a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. We also set our own dbt_attr cookie, which remembers how you reached the site (the campaign attribution described above). It lasts 90 days after your first visit or your last visit from a tagged link (campaign tags or an ad click ID), whichever is later.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. When we enable them, we also use Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure which ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. These tools set their own cookies, and Google and Meta receive data about your visit (such as the pages you view and whether you signed up or bought a course) only when the tool in question is enabled.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are off until you accept them. Google may still receive basic signals without cookies. If your browser is set to a European time zone, you see a banner where you can choose Accept or Reject. In that case the Meta pixel loads only after you accept, and ad click IDs are kept only after you accept. Elsewhere, these tools run by default.
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (as dbt-consent). To change it, clear the site data for dentalboardtutor.com in your browser so the banner shows again, or email help@dentalboardtutor.com.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site needs the sign-in cookie to keep you signed in.
How we use your data
- To create and run your account and give you access to the products you hold.
- To track your progress and personalize study modes, such as reviewing questions you got wrong.
- To process payments and keep the records needed for tax and accounting.
- To send account emails: security emails (email verification, password resets), course access confirmations, Florida access expiry notices, weekly summaries, progress milestones and trial reminders.
- To answer your support requests.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
- To understand which pages and campaigns bring people to the site, so we can improve it.
You can switch off some of these emails on your account's Settings page, under Notifications: “Weekly summary”, “Progress milestones”, “Trial reminders” and “Subscription events” (which includes Florida access expiry notices). Course access confirmations and security emails (email verification, password resets) are always sent.
Who processes data for us
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Dental Board Tutor:
- Stripe processes payments.
- Google provides Google Analytics and, when enabled, Google Ads conversion tracking.
- Meta provides the Meta (Facebook) pixel, when enabled and, where we ask, only after you accept.
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers and database in the United States.
- Anthropic generates AI explanations for practice questions. We send it only the question text, never your personal data.
Account emails are sent through our email hosting provider, InMotion Hosting.
We do not sell your personal data.
Testimonials
When you leave feedback, we collect your score, any words you choose to write, how you want your name shown (full name, initials or anonymous), your school or country, and whether and when you passed your exam. Publishing a testimonial on our website and using it in our ads each need your own explicit opt-in, and you can agree to one without the other.
We never edit your words, and we may choose which testimonials to show. You can withdraw at any time in Account → Withdraw my testimonial: we remove it from the website within 7 days and no longer use it in new ads. Questions? Email help@dentalboardtutor.com.
How long we keep data
We keep account data while your account is active. After you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within a reasonable period once the request has been processed. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, export it or stop using it for a particular purpose. Email help@dentalboardtutor.com and we will respond. Account deletion is also handled by email for now.
Children
Dental Board Tutor is intended for adults: dental students and professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date.
